Weekly Writing and Reading Update
Feb. 10th, 2019 07:39 pmThe cat is in full 'lost his got-damn mind' mode, so sitting down to write this should be fun.
Writing-wise:
A Winter Spirit, A Winter's Tale: Finished a chapter and posted it! I truly am not sure what to do exactly next (I mean, I know the arc of the story, just not how to get there from here), so will have to think on this a bit.
Untitled Trope-y thing: added a HUGE chunk to this, and slowly feeling better about it. I have a good idea of the arc, and the, er, tropes that will feature.
Yet Needed Most, I Bring so. much. medical kink. just spillin out the story. this chapter is going to be five million words long at the rate they're going.
Strike Gold Multiverse crossover...thing... I think I added like one line to this. I am seeing why I abandoned it three years ago, tbh.
And that's it for this week!
Reading-wise:
I fiiiiinally finished Odd Girls and Twilight Lovers, a history of lesbians in the 20th century. It was a slog at times. Not because of the writing or anything, just...it was very depressing to be a lesbian a lot of the time, basically. I'm glad I read it, but it was much harder going in place than I truly expected.
I started in on The Witch Elm which is also excellent writing, Tana French came highly recommended. Just. The main character is a very un-self-aware, kind of low-key asshole dude who has failed upwards his entire life. The book is clearly at least in part about him hitting a wall he can't charm or educated-white-man his way through for the first time in his life, but just...ugh. I don't have it in me to read about a straight white dude who is dealing with adversity for the first time in his entire life. So instead I'm most of the way through Mrs. Dalloway.
