Ok, so the bad news is, this week felt kinda weak, writing-wse. The good news is, the Hell Bug I devoted my life to has been solved, so I can stop working after 8 hours and not dream of timestamp issues. (Epoch is cool epoch can stay but I still need to cry a little when actually converting something to datetime in Python why are you hard sometimes.)

Writing-wise:

A quick note here: I owe SO MANY REPLIES. To fics. To Facebook messages. To my one friend who we agreed to write physical letters to each other. To both of my parents. I am so sorry, everyone. It has not been a great no-procrastinating week, tbh.

Weirdo Strike Gold Multiverse Fic ok so this one is a deep dive, but I wrote an AU of my Strike Gold universe where Bucky meets Steve and Peggy much later, and anyway like a million years ago I wrote a fic where the two Buckys meet and never finished it. So now I am working on finishing it. I sort of feel like no one likes this but me, but it’ll probably get posted anyways.

Another Threesome Universe in this one Peggy gets the serum and goes through the decades the long way, rescues Bucky in 1972, and the two of them are there when Steve wakes up in ugh, what was it? 2012 or whatever? anyway, THAT.

This is barely started, but I think it’ll be good when I feel like writing threesome stuff again.

Pajama Party! written and posted!

Unnamed comics!verse in spaaaace thing Added another chunk to it, think it’ll be done soon.

Tomte Added like a paragraph today, but I promise I’ll work harder on this!

Unnamed Tropes Fic Finally feeling this again, and added a good chunk

Huh, ok, that was better than I’d feared.

Reading:

Ugh, nothing finished again. I’m close to the end of my one book, at least!

Insert usual "well I got some stuff done but not as much as I'd want to" disclaimer here :P The good news is my anxiety k-hole is receding, I'm starting to wake up actually relaxed and rested, and generally feel a little more like myself, so I'm hoping to find writing and reading easier going.

Unnamed Space Thing: I've mentioned this here a few times before; this is a heavily-influenced-by-the-comics little space adventure I finally added another chunk to last night. I find I really want to spend time on this and I'm rewriting a lot as I go, so I doubt I'll start posting it until it's done and polished. It's fun, though, and I'm pleased that I'm writing action and maybe stretching my skills a bit.

Pajama Party!: ack, I owe a lot of replies to comments on this! But it was wonderfully fun to write and it was a real treat to realize I had more to do in the Strike Gold universe.

A Winter Spirit, A Winter's Tale: humming away at the next chapter!

Yet Needed Most, I Bring: I have a good start on the next chapter, but need to go back and rewrite some stuff; Bucky's always a little hard to capture in these stories, especially when it's a Nurse Grant scenario.

I'm itching to start something new, but we'll see if I get the energy/time!

Reading: Nothing completed again; Odd Girls and Twilight Lovers is probably what I'm most actively reading. I'm in the 1950's now and it's pretty hard going, ngl. I'll be glad when I start getting into things like the Daughters of Bilitis and less on the pathologization of lesbianism.

hello i ate something very bad and learned this fact while on a bike ride this morning. it was bad. So we get this while I see if the applesauce I had for lunch works its way through my digestive system in the expected manner!

Writing:

I thought this would be depressing, then yesterday happened! It’s been a weird, exhausting week, but I did get a few sentences knocked out over time, and yesterday I got some chunks done on a lot.

A Winter Spirit: Ugh, I’m sorry I don’t have an update to publish this week but I promise they are in the middle of a kind of sex scene (?) and it will be worth it.

Yet Needed Most chapter: Noodled around some more. We’ll see how this goes.

Unnamed trope-o-rama: I wrote a loooong conversation and don’t know how much I like it, but so far so good. These two can’t keep their hands off of each other, it appears. I have some source material for themes that I want to go back to, and then I think I’ll return to this.

Reading: I finished Chaos, a collection of stories by Edmund White. He’s a grande dame of gay lit of a certain era, and when he’s good, he’s very, very good. (The first story is very, very good.) When he’s bad, he’s dull as hell. By the end of the collection the endless repetition of the archetype of self-loathing gay man of a certain age had gotten quite old. I do want to look up some of his other work, though.

I also read basically all the back issues of Paper Girls, which is AWESOME and I am excited about it.

ughhhhhh. Between New Year’s stuff (the house I stayed at hosted a party so it was good busy, but busy!), the many joys of flying back home and settling back in, and a rousing bout of severe anxiety, I did not get very much writing done this week.

Writing-wise:

A Winter Spirit, A Winter’s Tale : Finally got Chapter 7 done and up. Working my way into ch 8. Spoiler: they touch dicks.

Yeah, that’s it for words on, er, paper. BUT. One of the advantages of paying a truly embarrassing sum of money for inflight WiFi is that you can re-read your old fic and I got the itch to keep adding to Yet Needed Most, I Bring. Probably feat. Nurse Grant, because we make our own kinky porn in this world, my children. So I’m hoping to add that to the docket too. Turns out I have a chapter started that I wrote probably years ago, so at least I have something to work with.

(I haven’t forgotten the trope-o-rama, just wanted to get A Winter Spirit done a bit more. Working, it turns out, is killer on the whole free time thing.

Reading:

I finished Annie Muktuk and Other Stories, by Norma Dunning. Seattle Public Library had a big native-themed e-book recommendation thing going awhile ago, and I reserved this, and it was awesome. I am really trying to read more Native authors, but especially from around the Seattle area. (So mostly Duwamish, I think Sammamish. Kwakiutl are further north, but thanks to anthropology, I’m more familiar with them, at least on that level.) Annie Muktuk is further north -- Inuit. They are wonderful, beautiful stories. I loved them. They made me hopeful.

In which I learned that I actually really don’t thrive when I don’t have some kind of structure. Blargh.

A Winter Spirit, A Winter’s Tale: After a quick, extensive rewrite to actually create some actual plot and drama, posted chapter 5. I’m well into chapter 6, and should post that this week unless something really weird happens.

Still-unnamed trope fic: Off to a good start! I’ve got some personal tropes in it as well as fandom-wide ones, and it’s a lot of fun to write. I’m giving more attention to Winter Spirit right now, but this is definitely on a front burner.

That’s all I’ve written, although upon re-reading Ambiguity[...], I found a ton of grammatical errors, mostly around tense changes, so I’ll try to do a quick rewrite of that. Nothing major changing, just bringing it up to, you know, minimum standard.
