Happy birthday Bucky Barnes! I love you and I miss writing you for hours every day. However, I love regular employment more, sorry bud.

I didn’t get as much done as I would have liked this week, but I think I’m working out a bit more of a schedule. I’m pretty clearly too tired/otherwise busy to write in the evenings, but I’ve started trying to get a page or two out in the mornings before work. It’s going ok so far. I played hookey from Meeting this morning and wrote a lot, which felt really good.

Writing:

A Winter Spirit It’s done! I am kinda sad about this! I have very much loved writing these guys. I want to edit the final chapter a lot more -- it’s kind of jumpy and could use some tightening up -- but I expect to post it in the next few days.

Of Angels and Knights This is the title I literally just came up with for that story of all the tropes. I’ve really only done a bit of editing, but it feels like something that can actually come to fruition; I want to write maybe one more chapter ahead, and then I’ll start posting I think.

Reading: As I noted last week, I speed-read Ross, The New Yorker and Me for a book club. It was...fine. Jane Grant, who was essentially the co-founder of The New Yorker, is very self-effacing and was actually a way cooler person than this memoir makes her seem. There’s also surprisingly little about The New Yorker. Mostly she is surrounded by the most difficult people in the world. (Alexander Woollcott is THE WORST you guys. Just the absolute worst. Harold Ross isn’t all that much better either.) I think I’d like an actual book about The New Yorker more, but it was interesting enough.

I also read Sara Benincasa’s Agorafabulous! in like two days. I don’t know if I necessarily should have read it when I was dealing with some mental health stuff, but I love Sara and I love her writing and it was an easy read. I’d also like to thank her for thanking Wonkette in the acknowledgements, because now I FINALLY remember where I’ve read her stuff before.
